Christmas Morning Casserole

YUM

We just got back from visiting Chris’s grandparents in Indiana last week. His grandma, Jayne, pulled this casserole out the night before a family breakfast. I watched her make the most mind-blowing breakfast casserole ever. LOL This is a crowd pleaser, a prep meal, great for large crowds, and just downright delicious. Highly recommend.

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs

  • 2 cups milk

  • 1lb Velveeta

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1tsp ground mustard

  • 1lb breakfast sausage, cooked

  • 8 thick slices of dense bread like Italian or French, cubed

Step 1: Grease a 9x13 pan.

Step 2: Cube bread and place in bottom of pan.

Step 3: Melt Velveeta with butter in microwave.

Step 4: Pour cheesy buttery goodness over bread.

Step 5: Top with sausage crumbles.

Step 6: Beat eggs, milk and ground mustard. Pour mixture over the casserole. Cover and chill overnight.

Step 7: Remove from fridge. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.

You can prep this meal in advance, adding the egg/milk mixture the night before.

This is a great meal for Christmas morning, or any breakfast event where you need to feed a crowd!

Hang in there, we’ve almost made it through the busiest time of year!
