Holiday Chex Mix

YUM

AKA WHITE TRASH MIX

Christmas Chex Mix

I wonder why they call this holiday treat “white trash mix.” It’s far from trash and the EASIEST thing to make. I make this every year and pass it out to all my people; my mail carrier, garbage truck driver, my favorite cashier at Sprouts, friends, family and of course a HUGE batch for me.

Side note – is it weird this year to pass out homemade holiday treats to our service people? I feel like I might have to skip this tradition for 2020. That’s very sad for me. Giving people treats when they least expect them is my LOVE LANGUAGE.

Christmas Chex Mix

You’ll Need:

  • Almond bark (vanilla flavor)

  • 1 cup Rice Chex

  • 1 cup Corn Chex

  • 1 cup M&M’s

  • 2 cup pretzels

  • 1 cup peanuts

  • Sprinkles

Those are the typical items in white trash mix. I change mine up, almost E V E R Y T I M E.

I like to also add:

  • 1 cup Cheerios

  • 1 cup Bugles

  • 1 cup Golden Grahams

  • 1 cup Skinny Pop

Before Q, I used to add peanuts and use peanut butter M&M’s. Now, we use regular M&M’s. (This still kinda scary if you are a peanut allergy person, because Hershey’s doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to cross contamination.)

Christmas Chex Mix Ingredients

Step 1:

After you have decided what ingredients are going to best suit your Holiday Chex Mix, combine all dry items (except M&M’s and sprinkles) in a large bowl. GENTLY stir until evenly combined.

Step 2:

Melt almond bark, following the instructions on package. I use the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring each time until completely melted.

Step 3:

Prep your area. Once the almond bark is melted, it’s a time game. To prep, I lay out 2-4 large pieces of parchment paper depending on the batch size.

Step 4:

Pour melted almond bark over dry ingredients. Stir VERY gently (you don’t want to break the pretzels and cereal), but quick enough that the vanilla doesn’t harden. Once everything is mixed and still warm, add M&M’s and sprinkles.

Step 5:

Pour mix onto parchment paper. I pour until the mix is about one inch thick. Once the vanilla hardens, break mix into clusters. BOOM, you are about to please everyone in your life.

This mix is super versatile! You can throw in anything your little heart desires. As you can tell, my recipe has evolved over the years. If you put something good in, LET ME KNOW.

Merry everything, everyone!

I cannot believe it’s Christmas already. This has been the slowest/longest/fastest/craziest year yet for sure.

At least we have each other <3
